Flower Girl

Aunt Holly and Uncle Adam got married this weekend! We had fun decorating for the big event. I was a little confused here and decorated myself:

For those of you that are dying to see my beautiful Aunt Holly as a bride, but couldn't make it to the wedding, here you go. Uncle Adam is a great guy. When it was time to cut the cake, he invited me to come, too! That guy really knows the way to a woman's heart.

This is me after I finally got a taste of that yummy looking cake. I almost waited all day... that's not counting the two sneaks of frosting I took when I thought nobody was watching.

Thank-you!

Thank-you for sending Happy Birthday greetings and/or coming to Elsa's Birthday party. Elsa loves her friends and family! She set a new PR (personal record) for sugar intake today and is now sleeping it off.

In honor of Elsa's birthday, her aunt and uncle submitted this audio for use on her blog. : )

Going to the Zoo

Here is Elsa singing the chorus to her book, Going to the Zoo. She was a bit tired, but still did a great job!

Goodbye 1 year-old!

Elsa turns 2 tomorrow! Tonight we thanked God for all of the things that we love about her and things we are thankful for during our prayer time. It was a cool opportunity and we hope that Elsa was blessed by it. Here is a list of things I remember: her sense of humor, her learning to walk, her intelligence, her health, her compassion for others, her positive attitude, and her cuteness.

Almost 2

I'll be turning 2 this week! I've been practicing getting my two fingers up, and it looks like I'm just about ready for the big day, doesn't it?
PS My friend Ellie and her mom made these cool arm warmers for me. Thanks, friends!

Almost 2

Elsa is almost 2 years-old. Wow, time flies. Tonight Katy and I were telling Elsa about when she was a "tiny, little baby." It was a lot of fun and she enjoyed it immensely. Katy showed her her dried up belly button and how big her feet used to be... she liked that - and we brainstormed some noises she used to make and the funny ways she used to sleep (bottom high in the air). She has learned so quickly! You have to be careful what you tell her. Just the other day, she was feeling my chin as she has started to do lately - I guess she is checking to see if I've shaved - and she said, "nice." I said something back and she said, "sexy," which shocked me a bit. I gave grandma a call that evening to set some limits on what we teach Elsa. : ) Actually, we don't know where she picked it up - but at least she thinks her Dad is a good looking guy. We know she is not technically a genius (yet), but it is amazing to hear her sing songs, count, and form her own sentences. I love it.

We have started discussing this Birthday issue. It is very close to Christmas, but we want a special time when we celebrate and remember her life so far. Maybe it will help her understand Christmas sooner than I did though. Celebrate Elsa's life one day, and the life of Christ a week later. Of course it is our prayer that her life will reflect Christ... maybe she'll explain that to me by next year.

Speaking of grasping concepts, today up on campus, Elsa saw her shadow and started walking backward. It almost seemed as though she wanted to watch it follow her, but didn't realize she could also "push" it in front of her. Anyways, we told her that she could "push" it, but she didn't want to listen, imagine that. She backed up into the shadow of a building and it was gone. A large sculpture overhead quickly caught her attention, though, and she studied that for awhile. I gave a fairly vague explanation of why we make a shadow using mommy as an illustration, but Elsa and Mommy seemed unimpressed.

Rowing With Kitchen Utensils

Elsa picked out some "oars" from the drawer... when mommy brought the camera in, she couldn't finish the song because she wanted see the video of herself.
