Elsa's Interests

Elsa is interested in learning about everything. She watches us intently at the dinner table and wants to join in. I guess it is kind of strange that a plate of solid food disappears into someone's mouth. This is in contrast to her own eating, where much of the meal is transfered from her dish to her bib and face.

Its green, gooey, slimy... its avocado. Elsa wasn't sure she liked it (check vid about 10 sec in) but mommy convinced her and now it is her favorite food... with sweet potatoes following close behind.

My Weekend

• Friday Night: Art Gallery Walk in F-haven
• Saturday: Watched my parents work in the yard, picked out a piece of furniture for my toys (right), ate avocado for the first time, hung out at Daddy's work.
  
• Sunday: Church, helped Daddy paint the porch, Swam in the Fountain at Western, Visited cute, quiet, Quinn

I'll post a vid of my first eating and swimming experiences soon. I wanted to post a pic of Quinn and I, but my parents forgot the camera, so you get to look at my organizer bin instead.

Elsa picks up another great habit

Brushing half of two teeth is quick and easy, especially with my green glow-in-the-dark toothbrush.

Left foot, left foot, right foot, right...

This week I have learned a new trick. I can put my toes in my mouth! Yesterday at nap time I gave Mommy and Daddy a good laugh when they came in to check on me and I was laying in bed playing with my feet straight up in the air. I am a good only child, able to entertain myself in such interesting and intelligent ways.

New Friend!

Introducing my new [boy] friend Lincoln! What a cutie. I hope he likes older women (he is less than a day old in this picture). Congratulations K + A!

TV is Edja-ma-cational!

So my parents don't watch much TV. Daddy says it "retards brain development" - whatever that means... here I am catching a quick peek anyway.

Daddy watches Discovery Channel in the AM sometimes when I'm eating breakfast - either a science show about ants, asteroids, or earthquakes... or American Chopper. I can usually get away with watching until he sees and turns it off. Don't feel guilty Daddy, its edu-ma-cational!

Family

i went to visit all my relatives on mom's side including grandma, grandpa, strange cousin david and fun aunt holly this past weekend. fun times. aunt holly taught me about my femur but I am having trouble locating it beneath my chub. i also learned about my funibula, giggleba, and amphibia. my aunt is so smart.

The Gift of Life

I have been amazed watching Elsa grow up. She is inquisitive; being created and dropped into a strange new world likely has this effect on many. What is very special about Elsa is her love of life. She is so incredibly joyful, it amazes me. We were trying to take a nap the other day and as we rested, she was intrigued by her own breath. She would breathe in sharply and let out a breath and then do it again, it put a huge smile on her face. It gave her joy. This is something that should give me joy. To have breath is a great gift of God, and it is no small thing. Neither Elsa nor her parents could control whether she (or for that matter, we) would be given this gift. Elsa's attitude and outlook on life is her own, and it amazes me. I believe that she understands this scripture better than I without ever having read it.

Here is a view of the sky right now. God keeps creating beauty even at the end of a tough day... a testimony that He is greater than our trials. My Great-Grandma died tonight. She was pure love and kindness. If you are reading this, please say a prayer for my family; they are missing her a lot right now.

retrospective

I said earlier that I would give an overview of my early days. Here I am at one day old. We were just getting ready to flee the hospital.

Note: tag on my ankle... there is one clamped to what's left of my umbilical cord as well... had to make sure they had the right Elsa when they left. I guess they gave me the right parents; 'course I was sleeping the entire time, so what do I know.
